A new Ministry Team was formed Spring 1999 to literally fight time. During the one hundred+ year history of Boise’s First Presbyterian Church, numerous newspaper clippings, photographs, clothing, ledgers, pamphlets, bulletins and newsletters have accumulated in the church’s vault. Time destroys paper. Chemicals in the air, on our fingers, in printers’ ink and in the paper all interact to cause the slow destruction of important documents. Already some of the historical church newspaper articles are yellow with age. Unless special precautions are taken to preserve our history, it will fade away to nothing.

Fortunately Judy Austin has a background in preserving historical documents and has agreed to share her knowledge. Under her guidance the History Ministry Team has begun the task of organizing and inventorying the contents of the vault. Taking steps to hold off the ravages of time began in the Fall of 1999 and is continuing.
