A newly developed ministry with Rev. Betty Beck’s help and foresight has been taking up the cause of outreaching to our homebound and to people in nursing homes with communion. The first step was a training process conducted by Betty which included both current and former Deacons interested in the program.. After training was conducted and those identified who could commit to dates, communion began being served in the spring of 2000 with 23 people receiving communion. This ministry is serving to keep connected those people who are not able to attend church and to provide a sense of inclusion. Through this care they receive the news of God’s care for them through the Deacons, and they participate in the prayer life and service to this community. We are grateful to Betty for her efforts with the Deacons. After helping us with training and reorganization and getting the communion program up and running, Betty accepted a call to the church in Emmett. In addition we adopted the mission statement as follows: We are a very dedicated group that want nothing more than to see our church thrive and prosper in the coming years. | |
