ORGANIZATION OF STANDING COMMITTEES & COMMISSIONS Committees are appointed to study and recommend actions to the Session or carry out directions or decisions already made by the Session. They shall make periodic reports of their findings to Session. Recommendations shall be acted upon by Session. Commissions are empowered by Session to consider and conclude matters referred to them by Session. Session shall specify the scope of empowerment conferred upon each Commission. Commissions shall keep full records of their proceedings which shall be submitted to Session and incorporated into the Session's minutes. |

The Personnel Committee shall be responsible for determining staffing requirements and job descriptions; overseeing the nomination of members for Elder and Deacon positions and development of staff, Elder and Deacon training programs. The Facilities Commission shall be responsible for tasks relating to the routine security, construction and maintenance of the physical plant, including the grounds. The Ministry Commission shall be responsible for the physical and spiritual needs of the community and the congregation through a variety of regular worship services; administration of a multi-generational Christian Education program; promotion of activities leading to spiritual growth, community outreach and the care and nurturing of members and friends through the establishment of fellowship groups, spiritual study groups and related activities. Ex-officio representatives to Session shall be part of this Commission. The Communications Commission shall oversee all of the Church's internal and external communications, to include such items as newsletters, press releases, videotapes, posters, bulletin boards, signs, etc. This Commission shall coordinate with other Commissions, Committees and staff on the content of these communications. The Finance Committee shall be responsible for tracking all aspects of the Church's finances, including overseeing endowment programs and conducting discipleship and special fundraising campaigns. The Steering Team shall be composed of the Chairs of each of the standing Committees and Commissions. The Steering Team shall meet between Session meetings to act on routine Session business and determine items that need to be placed on the docket for consideration by the full Session. Minutes of these meetings shall be provided to all Session members and become part of the Session's minutes. Ministry Teams may be created by Standing Committees and Commissions to carry out the work of the creating body. They shall be organized and supervised by the creating body to which the Ministry Team(s) shall make periodic reports. Session shall be appraised of the creation of such Ministry Teams and any required support. The forgoing shall not prevent Session from forming other committees for short term projects.
