AA Alcoholics Anonymous groups began using the church for meetings in 1983. For sixteen years in cooperation with First Presbyterian Church, AA has been providing sponsorship, friendship, courage and support to make differences in the lives of real people. AA’s motto of "To Thine Own Self Be True" has helped countless numbers have the strength to live one more day in sobriety. Currently we meet 6 days a week at the church (NW corner 9th &State) during the noon hour. We have from 25-85 attend during the weekdays with our largest meetings on Saturday. We could fill another room with the inquiries and numbers we often encounter. If you or someone you know would like information about AA, please call the 24-hour information number in Boise at 344-6611. All calls are completely anonymous and those who attend the meetings are known by first name only. A schedule of meetings of AA in Boise follows or pocket schedules for each day of the week can be found in upstairs Lindsay Hall, rooms 252-254 where AA meets. Thank you to First Presbyterian Church for impacting so many lives with its willingness to welcome groups such as ours into its facility. You make a difference in lives - mine included. We are dedicated to the principles of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility. Our programs enhance individual health and well being, strengthen personal and family relationships and develop individual leadership skills. The Boise Family YMCA Early Childhood Care and Education programs offer quality part and full day child development care services for infants through school-age children. At First Presbyterian Church the YMCA has space for 99 children in the infant to preschoolers age bracket and 60 children for grades 1-6. Currently there are 146 children enrolled in a full-time - equivalent status at First Presbyterian Church. The partnership between First Presbyterian Church and the YMCA has been on going for the past 17 years. The past three years have been under the long-term lease arrangement that provides First Presbyterian Church with a guaranteed income. This income stream is a significant factor in the church's renovation plans. The renovated facilities are a benefit to all parties especially the children. The YMCA child care program focuses on developmentally appropriate curriculums and activities. These provide an ongoing relationship with caring adults, safe places with structured activities, and a healthy start in life. The YMCA child care programs offered at all child care sites are designed to enable a child to reach their potential in spirit, mind, and body. The YMCA is meeting it's mission goals through these programs. The need for high quality child care continues to grow as the percentage of mothers entering the work force continues to grow. This increase is in most part due to the decline in the purchasing power of a single income and the increase of single parent homes. At the same time the funding for child care subsistence programs is in decline. YMCA Website | |||||
