The fall of 1998 saw the continuation of the work of the deacons:

• Calls on hospitalized, homebound or nursing home church members.
• Flower delivery to hospitalized or recovering members and friends of the church.
• Preparation of the Communion service sacraments.
• Coordination of the Adopt-A-Family program at Christmas time.
• Church food cart and delivery to the food bank.
• Greeting of newborn children to a family in the church community.
• Receptions following funerals.

In February a Deacons’ retreat, "What Every Deacon Should Know" was held. This retreat began the process of looking at the work deacons were doing for the church, also redeveloping who the deacons are and what service they can do to serve the church community best.

At that time fall election of new officers was decided upon. The work of the deacons was then divided into the following committees:
