Presbyterian Women
Annual Report
1999

In June we purchased three dozen more forks for the church kitchen. In September we purchased sterile gauze pads and mailed them to Presbytery as our part of the national mission project. We also completed the mailing of our annual fund raising letter, netting: $2,945. October found us attending the Women’s Presbytery Fall Gathering in Adrian, Oregon, and hosting a Church Coffee Hour. For "World Food Day" we planned and carried out an all Church food drive including the Sunday School Classes. The outpouring of food was tremendous. The Narthex was literally jammed full of food. We’d like to thank you all for your participation! We then completed a large mission project of feminine kits and layettes (church members helped by donating items) that were shipped to agencies in Portland, Oregon. At our Church Kitchen cleaning party on the 21st, all walls, cupboards, wood block counters, refrigerator and freezer were thoroughly cleaned and the cupboards reorganized.

In November we held our annual Flea Market, which we extended into the unfinished office area. We achieved a net profit of $3,909.64. Thank you so much to all the wonderful church members who helped us with another success. It enabled us to help our community and purchase many needed items and furniture for our Church. December was time again for the Annual All Church Christmas High Tea. The entertainment was the spiritually uplifting Boise High Madrigals. Our decorating theme was angels, one of our prettiest and most well attended yet. We had approximately 60 guests attend. Then in January we hosted a Wednesday Night Supper, serving homemade casseroles. The Finance Committee met to propose the 1999 budget. There were three major additions: Funding for Church Library furniture, extra funding for Church Kitchen, and plans for funds in order to adopt Room 204. (See following P.W. Budget). In February we extended an open invitation to all church women to attend our Coordinating Team Meeting in order to hear their views, needs and criticisms. We had about 14 women attend. To be adjacent to the Church Library, we acquired a nice conference table complete with matching chairs for $800. On the 7th and 14th we hosted Sunday Coffee Hours.

We attended the Spring Gathering of Presbytery at Boone Church in Caldwell during the month of March. $100 was donated by our group to the travel fund of our Synod Representative going on the Global Exchange Mission. Since April, we have been working closely with the new Church Decorating Committee., purchasing five wood frame chairs with arms and lovely padded seats and backs for a total of $1,000.00. We also hosted a Wednesday Night Supper during this same month.

Saturday Friendship Group

Our group met nine times in the past year, both in members’ homes and in restaurants. We sponsored a Christmas Family giving gifts, clothing, food, and money for two adults and two children. We hosted Wednesday Evening Supper and Sunday Coffee Hours. The group contributed money to the campaign to refurbish the Jaycee cross on Tablerock.

In addition to great dinners and companionship, the Friendship Group enjoyed programs that ranged from a "Hyacinth Bucket Candlelight Supper with hand painted periwinkles on Dixie" to an interesting talk by Joyce Ruesink about the Parish Nurse Project. It was an all around good year, on the whole, and we look forward to the next one.
