First Presbyterian Church is on the web and it has nothing to do with spiders. For everyone being "on the web" means that our Church has a presence on the Internet and anyone, anywhere in the world with a computer who is connected to the internet can look us up and obtain information about our Church. Go here to view our extensive Site map. Work began on the website in December 1997 and has evolved into the current configuration. Recent additions have been in the area of dynamic web pages. (These are pages that obtain their content from a database. When a change is made in the database the web page is automatically updated when it is fetched.) A form was added that allows any person to enter a prayer request online. The request is automatically inserted into the database and an e-mail is sent to the Prayer Chain coordinator. Most recently web pages were developed that provide an index to Sermons and we installed streamingn audio. The sermons may be stored on the system in four formats, audio, video, html, and/or pdf. An icon signifying the format that is available will automatically be displayed for each sermon. If you wish try it out by clicking here.. Recently Brian Anderson has been converting the tapes to the streaming audio format. |

The site has been enhanced by including pictures of our stain glass windows on pages throughout the site. A dynamic youth website has been constructed that allows our youth to create entries and develop their own web page. This portion of the site is private and was designed to act like an Intranet site. You may view the prototype by clicking here. The public portion of the youth site was completely developed by Dillion Mowbray. A link to this site is on the home page. The website currently consists of more than 80 main pages; 16 documents and articles; two audio sermons and about 100 images. Currently the website is hosted on the ALLiance server. If you are interested in working on the web site, we need you. There are plenty of opportunities. Here are a few:
Currently Brian Anderson, David and Farid Grander and Carl R. Boehme are members of the team. |
