Submit a Prayer Request for someone you care about by clicking here The Prayer Chain at First Presbyterian Church has been active for many years. It is our mission to provide Intercessory Prayer on the behalf of members, relatives, friends and organizations. Prayer Request are kept in strict confidence and published on a limited distribution list to Prayer Chain members. Currently the Chain consists of three teams, each with about seven members. The main Prayer list is divided into three sections and distributed to the team members. t is a common belief and understanding that prayer is beneficial to those in need. There are several Biblical references that refer to the power of Intercessory prayer. Matt 7:7-11 and 11:22-24 are very powerful statements to this effect. Our experience, and a not so common belief, is that Intercessory Prayer is also beneficial to those doing the praying. It offers us the daily opportunity to be in touch with our sisters and brothers in Christ and to share in their joys and sorrows. This strengthens our love for others. Another interesting aspect of the Prayer Chain team is that it is a small group that meets daily in the spiritual sense but never meets in the physical sense. Oh, we see each other on Sundays and several members are very close friends. There is more to it and it is occurring on the Spiritual side so it is hard to explain. If you are interested in becoming a member of the Prayer Chain please contact the Church Office. |
